Sterlite spending Rs. 100 crore in Thoothukudi

Today in ET the news said this.

Total consolidated revenue for the FY ending Mar 2013 was Rs.48,379 crore.

Thus as per 2013 standard the company is investing around 0.21 % of its revenue  for the Social Infrastructure of Thoothukudi.

Tax paid by Sterlite in 2013 is Rs. 1,618 crore.  That amount is 1600% higher than the Rs.100 core earmarked for this purpose.

Looking at it in another angle, Sterlite is paying an additional Tax.However, instead of routing it through the government, it is directly investing the amount in it's local community.

Just a passing thought.

Vodafone Woes

900 Crore  default  to government by Vodafone. 4,900 crore  in losses. Massive. https://www.screener.in/company/IDEA/consolidated/#profit-loss After seeing profits  continuously since 2006, for the first time the company is seeing massive losses. Jio!  Is it creating profits? 2 lakh crore invested. 25 core customers. Jio has to make around Rs. 667 from each customer per month to get back its investment. That is difficult,  that is why it needs more customers. Can we create a company like Jio?  Yes, if we work extremely hard and network for the next 50 years (remembering that Dhirubhai Ambani started Reliance group). Do we have to focus  to achieve it?  That is what matters.

Warren Buffett holding forever

http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1988.html ... "In fact, when we own portions of outstanding businesses with outstanding managements, our  favorite holding period is forever." ... Do we think in similar lines?  Do we look at investments or  asset building activities as a forever activity? Do we keep the goose healthy and alive always? Warren Buffett has displayed to us that true wealth is in long term investment strategies. Warren Buffett started investing in 1942.  His philosophy of  investing is still the same - find great companies, and stay invested forever - after 76 years and he is one of the wealthiest  person in the world. Let us also think in the long run. Also learn how to be content like Warren Buffett.  He drew cheap cars (for  his  standard of life and income). Let us all build wealth and do good to this world. Warren Buffett has regularly given to charity.  He gave  away more...

Build an A Team

http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1989.html "When I call off the names of our managers - the Blumkin, Friedman and Heldman families, Chuck Huggins, Stan Lipsey, and Ralph Schey - I feel the same glow that Miller Huggins must have experienced when he announced the lineup of his 1927 New York Yankees." === Warren Buffett had an amazing team of leaders in the organisations that he invested in. He continuously lauded them and attributed his success to their dedication and commitment. In our organisations are we building an A Team? Do we have dedicated and committed team members? If you are a Business Owner (or want to be one in the future) and not a Job Owner, then your first task should be to build up enough revenue per month to start looking for a A Team. Your team is what will help grow your organisation to great heights. You need to build a trusted close team of comrades who will take the organisation to great heights. It is quite difficul...
