Berkshire stock selection

http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1988.html ... "whose troubles have caused it to be significantly misappraised by the market."... Warren Buffett  is  extremely patient in picking  up stock.  He picks up only when the value of  the stock has come down due to various market conditions. Are we that patient?  The circumstances are same for us and for him. Then why is it that he is consistently doing what the says and we do not do what is right? We have to write down our credo and keep  reminding ourselves.  Simple rules of investing.  Then we have to stick  to that decision. Let us all add more  Assets in to our holding and grow our wealth like Warren Buffet does.

Warren Buffett holding forever

http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1988.html ... "In fact, when we own portions of outstanding businesses with outstanding managements, our  favorite holding period is forever." ... Do we think in similar lines?  Do we look at investments or  asset building activities as a forever activity? Do we keep the goose healthy and alive always? Warren Buffett has displayed to us that true wealth is in long term investment strategies. Warren Buffett started investing in 1942.  His philosophy of  investing is still the same - find great companies, and stay invested forever - after 76 years and he is one of the wealthiest  person in the world. Let us also think in the long run. Also learn how to be content like Warren Buffett.  He drew cheap cars (for  his  standard of life and income). Let us all build wealth and do good to this world. Warren Buffett has regularly given to charity.  He gave  away more...

Amazon the long term company

Amazon purchasing a small stake  in Future Group of Mr. Biyani.  The news article says that this deal may result in to ownership after 8 to 10 years if the Government rules also permit. A decision being taken today for a result to be seen after 8 years! Do we all think this long term?  Do we have the discipline to remain committed daily for that long? Amazon started in 1994.  For the past 24 years the company has been consistence in its performance and it is one of the most valuable companies now. Can we as business owners take self commitment of investing on ourselves and in our business keeping the long run results in view? Can we invest on our health today thinking about 20 years down the line?  Can we train ourselves in new technologies thinking about 20 years from now?  Can we acquire new skills today and to be used in the future? That is what makes the difference. Wishing us all the best in investing in the today for a better tomorrow. ...

Vodafone Woes

900 Crore  default  to government by Vodafone. 4,900 crore  in losses. Massive. https://www.screener.in/company/IDEA/consolidated/#profit-loss After seeing profits  continuously since 2006, for the first time the company is seeing massive losses. Jio!  Is it creating profits? 2 lakh crore invested. 25 core customers. Jio has to make around Rs. 667 from each customer per month to get back its investment. That is difficult,  that is why it needs more customers. Can we create a company like Jio?  Yes, if we work extremely hard and network for the next 50 years (remembering that Dhirubhai Ambani started Reliance group). Do we have to focus  to achieve it?  That is what matters.

What was the underlying reason for Oyo's success?

Ritesh Agarwal was selected for the “20 under 20” Thiel Fellowship in 2013.  The Thiel Fellowship  is a two-year program wherein fellows receive $100,000 and mentorship from the foundation’s network of tech entrepreneurs, investors and scientists. This is a statement I found when I googled about Oyo and searched for reasons as to how Oyo became what  it is right now. Let us try to understand  the habits of this guy. He was extremely hardworking and practical working too.  Because he had traveled extensively and had stayed in many budget hotels to achieve his business targets. He obviously was up to date  with news and also was well networked - how else would Thiel Fellowship be possible. Also it  is possible that his family would have supported him in his journey - read that he hails from a wealthy family (probably with good contacts themselves). So what are the secrets or steps we all have to take or can take:  Network well and ...
